Roleplay on ONX involves acting in the role of individual characters within the setting of the server. Each character has a full life and identity: a name and backstory, defining traits, relationships, jobs, conflicts, hopes and fears, and more. ONX Roleplay characters are living, breathing stories whose lives play out in real time. The decisions and behaviours of players on the server all exist in service of their character's personality and narrative.
The features on the ONX Roleplay server aim to support rich, detailed, and engaging stories where roleplayers' characters can evolve and progress over time.

San Andreas, in the context of ONX Roleplay, is a territory of the United States, meaning that it does not observe all of the same federal laws, constitutional rights, etc. as US states. The island has its own governance structure and legal system.
Think of ONX like an alternate universe: many of the same norms, structures, and ways of being we're familiar with in real life still apply in San Andreas. There is no disparity between the time and date in the real world and on the server, as ONX is set in the current day.
⸺ Lore ⸺
Nuclear warheads were intercepted off the coast of the island state, resulting in nuclear fallout blanketing the entire area. San Andreas' shores had been deemed unsafe and were off-limits until the state began to reopen.
Despite the dangerous nature of the area, not everyone was evacuated, and the remaining local populace suffered in their exposure to the radiation. They were in no condition to help rebuild when the time came. And so the Department of Public Safety, in their goal to restore the once-great state of San Andreas, called for aid from across the globe. They recruited a number of volunteers to staff government and emergency services, and upon their arrival in December 2023, society in San Andreas began anew.

Roleplayers who bring their existing characters to ONX need to consider how those individuals' lives prior to arriving in ONX's version of San Andreas have differed to their pasts elsewhere, given the lore of the server. Were they a citizen of San Andreas prior to the nuclear event 7 years ago and had to evacuate before returning when the state reopened? Are they a new arrival to the city from elsewhere in the fictionalised US or wider world? Who else in the state might they know, and how are they connected?
Players are free to take the opportunity to explore old connections with existing characters and decide how these relationships fit within the setting and context of ONX.
Server History
From trailers to development updates, the ONX Roleplay community have been treated to a range of exciting progress markers. Applications for the server were first advertised in August of 2023, with the server formally launching and opening to whitelisted players later that year in December. Development is ongoing, and more features and assets are being added frequently.

Applying for ONX
Applicants are encouraged to provide detailed answers and give examples rather than just definitions of roleplay terminology. Unsuccessful applicants are given feedback and encouraged to resubmit a revised application.
Please be patient while you wait for a response from the application team! They're working hard to review every single application that comes in. In the meantime, applications can be edited as many times as you like without resetting your position in the queue, and some advice is available from community support staff in the chat logs of ONX's official Discord server.

Applicants must:
● Be at least 18 years of age;
● Own a legitimate copy of Grand Theft Auto V;
● Be capable of meaningful communication with fellow roleplayers in English;
● Have a functional, high-quality microphone; and
● Be willing and able to follow all other ONX community guidelines as listed on the 'community rules' channel of ONX's Discord server.
